- Categorize Your Pins On Several Boards: If you're a Pinterest addict like me, you'll have tons of pins, and you don't want to spend all morning scrolling down to find that one outfit you might have pinned. Come up with categories to divide your pins into. Some ideas might be: Casual Outfits, Work Outfits, Dream Outfits, etc.
- Don't Pin Too Many "Fantasy" Outfits: The point of pinning these outfits is to find some inspiration in your everyday wardrobe. For most of us this doesn't include designer gowns or precariously high heels.
- ...But Pin A Few: That being said, you never know where inspiration might strike. You may really love the color of Kate Middleton's dress, or a certain color pairing on the runway. Pin some "just for fun" items.
- Pin From Your Closet: As you pin, look for outfits that contain items that you already have in your closet. Aim for about 2 items (i.e. boots and blazer, skirt and blouse, etc.) Don't worry about matching exactly. If the outfit has a circle scarf, and you own a circle scarf, consider it mission accomplished!
- Pin For Your Life: Consider your lifestyle as you pin. A busy mom of three probably won't wear many pencil skirt/stiletto combinations, and a receptionist looking to amp up her work wardrobe shouldn't be pinning 101 jean/sneaker outfits. Other things to consider as you pin are age, body type, climate, and whether or not there is an area where you are fashion lacking (for instance, you can put together a great work outfit, but you look sloppy on the weekends).
- Don't Forget Other Sources of Inspiration: Although the theme of my blog is using Pinterest as inspiration, there are tons of other resources out there. Use fashion blogs, magazines, and your favorite celebrities to extend your circle of inspiration.

30 Days of Pinspiration
I'm a shopaholic and aspiring fashionista. Anyone who knows me will tell you that. Unfortunately, I don't make enough money to support my habit of buying every cute outfit I see in the window. So I've decided to take a 30 day wardrobe challenge. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the concept, there are many variations on the challenge, but the basic jist of it is that you "shop your closet" for 30 days, creating 30 different outfits, while buying little to nothing new. For a basic idea check out Kendi Everyday. This is all well and good, but my creativity only goes so far. Basically I'll end up just wearing the same pants and blazer combo with a different shirt each day. So here's where I got a little creative, inspired if you will. I have tons of cute outfits pinned on Pinterest, and I often reference these before I get dressed in the morning. So I though, why not use that pinspiration to put my own twist on the challenge. Here's the basic idea:
For 30 days I'll create 30 different outfits using only my
own closet and basing them on outfits I've pinned on Pinterest.
Before I jump in, I'd like to take a few posts to point out some tips and tricks to consider before embarking on this challenge. I hope you'll follow me on my journey, and maybe even be inspired to take your own challenge!
